Stop #24 - David Conley….The Birdhouse Guy
780 Second Crown Point Road, Strafford
Welcome to my offerings of one-of-a kind birdhouses. Drawing from my inspiration from classic New England architecture, I hand craft every house in the time honored tradition of bench made American crafts. I utilize a combination of new and old materials. The basic boxes are made from locally grown, sustainably harvested Eastern white pine. Tin used for roofs and strap hinges come from antique barn roofs. Doors and windows are created using pieces of 100 year old lath collected from remodeling projects. The painted pieces receive two coats of high quality house paint. The side or bottom of each birdhouse is designed to afford easy access for cleaning. Over the past 50 years, I have worked with wood in one form or another. Whether designing and building new homes, tackling a barn restoration, or building country furniture, I have always been attracted to building styles that have stood the test of time. I have attempted to continue that tradition in the making of my birdhouses. My hope is that you will enjoy owning one of my creations as much as our feathered friends will enjoy living in them.
You will also be delighted with whimsical creations inspired by nature. Feather and pine cone wreaths, holiday door decor, hand painted signs and flower art on 100 year old barrel staves will tickle your imagination.
Accessibility info: There are no stairs into the barn, and the driveway area is easily accessible.
